Ann Curry

Ann Curry was born in America and is an accomplished photographer as well as a journalist. Over the past forty-five years she has focused her work on reporting human suffering, especially in natural disasters and wars. Curry was a journalist in war-zones such as Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo. Ann Curry was an American journalist, news reporter on TV and host best known as a correspondent for the Today program, a daily morning news show that aired on NBC. Curry is known for reporting humanitarian crises and natural disasters, especially in countries which have suffered the effects of conflict. Curry was the child of an U.S. Navy sailor and a Japanese woman. The couple met when their father was in Japan following World War II. Because of her father's work in the military, they moved a lot. They eventually moved to Ashland Oregon where Curry attended the high school. Curry graduated in 1978, with the degree of Bachelor's in Journalism from the University of Oregon. Her exposure to different cultures and experiences during her upbringing probably influenced her way of communicating on international matters. Curry's family moved frequently, so Curry did not stay in one school for more than two months. Curry attended various schools including San Diego Alameda Oregon Virginia as well as Virginia. Ashland was the place where Curry graduated. She began a career that would lead to a lucrative job by becoming an intern at broadcasting station KTVL Channel 10 Medford. The first female news reporter at the station, at age 22. Following that, she went on to become an anchor and reporter at KGW KGW, which was the NBC affiliate station in Portland. She moved back to Los Angeles four years later working as a journalist at KCBS TV. She won the award of two Emmy Awards during the six years that she worked for this station.
